Dr Russell Butson

Russell is a senior lecturer in higher education/educational technology. His research is focused on the learning that takes place within the university setting. He is currently leading a research program that incorporates innovative topics and methods to explore, understand and change our conceptions and approaches to academic learning. He is a pioneer in the use of digital devices and sensors to capture naturally occurring behavioural data (Reality Mining). His current research is focused on the role of Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in the academic development of faculty and students.

Dr Sarah Lesche

Dr Deborah Wright

Deborah Wright is a General and Colorectal Surgeon who began her medical training in the UK, before relocating to New Zealand in 2003 where she completed her training in General Surgery and a PhD in the molecular biology of colorectal cancer. Deborah went on to subspecialty training in colorectal surgery spending time in Auckland, NZ and Birmingham, UK. She has interests in general surgery, including hernia repair, and in benign and malignant colorectal disease, including pelvic floor disorders. She offers colonoscopy, and both laparoscopic and open surgery to the small bowel, colon and rectum. Deborah works closely with specialist nurses, dieticians and physiotherapists to offer integrated and holistic care.

Dr Tracey Barnes

Tracey is a registrar on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons General Surgery training program. She developed a special interest in medical education during her medical studies and has been a clinical teacher and examiner for several UK universities as well as the University of Otago. In 2019 she completed a postgraduate research Masters in Clinical Education through the University Auckland. Her previous research has focused on clinical leadership education and development for both undergraduate medical students and surgical trainees.
